How to play Guess the Year Game
Daily Challenge
The Daily Challenge gives every player the same five questions for the day. Finish all five to save your local daily streak, best daily score, average error, and result title. After completion, returning to the page shows today's score and the countdown to the next daily game.
Category games
Category games pull five random questions from one topic, such as movies, songs, video games, tech, memes, 90s, 2000s, or history. You can restart category rounds and use the difficulty filter to focus the question pool.
Scoring
Exact answers earn 100 points. A one-year miss earns 90 points, a two-to-three-year miss earns 70, a four-to-five year miss earns 50, a six-to-ten-year miss earns 30, and larger misses earn 10. A full round is scored out of 500.
Result titles
Scores from 480 to 500 earn Timeline Master. Scores from 400 to 479 earn Year Detective. Scores from 300 to 399 earn Retro Genius. Scores from 200 to 299 earn Time Traveler. Lower scores receive Keep Guessing.
Results are for entertainment and memory practice. Some events have multiple relevant dates, so each answer card explains the intended release, launch, premiere, or peak culture context.
